Yoga community class

A therapeutic yoga class with Lauren Munday
(until the end of August 2024)

Thursdays 12.00 – 1.30pm
Every Thursday we run a free therapeutic yoga class for the local community. Everyone is welcome even if they’ve never practised yoga before and have some physical limitations.

Classes are limited to 6-8 participants and the teacher is trained in offering trauma-informed classes. There are no hands-on adjustments in this session and you are welcome to practise on a mat or in a chair.

Our aim is to provide accessible and affordable yoga in Camden. Drop-ins and referrals from charities and local authorities are all welcome.

If you’re interested in attending or work for an organisation and would like to refer your service users, please get in touch with Lauren.

Come along and explore how yoga can be of benefit to you in a supportive and friendly environment.

This session is free. However, if you wish to make a donation, we suggest no more than £5.00.

Please email or message Lauren if you’d like to join her classes.

About Lauren

My yoga story started in my early twenties, like many, at gym yoga classes. This led me to practising with Hamish and finding our community at Astanga Yoga London in 2007. I still practise with Hamish daily, and, after assisting for several years, I now teach the evening programme with Tom.

I received my authorisation level 2 from Sharath Jois in Mysore and have a Diploma in yoga therapy. As well as teaching the evening programme I’m very fortunate to teach a weekly community class and other classes for vulnerable adults. I’m also a TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator. TCTSY is an empirical validated intervention for complex trauma.

I believe the physical practice of yoga can create healing within our body-mind, and the philosophy can inform our anti-oppressive practices to create healing in our society. I’m committed to creating a safe practice space for everyone who comes to the shala and acknowledge the continuous learning required on my part to ensure I’m able to do this.

Lauren teaches the yoga community class as well as the weekday evening Mysore self-practice programme alongside Tom. She also facilitates group TCTSY Trauma sensitive yoga sessions at AYL. Please email Lauren if you’d like to join her class or call her on 07956 320282. For info on TCTSY trauma sensitive yoga click here.

“Yoga has helped me to become aware of my breathing and get more in touch with my body. I feel like it helps me to control my anxiety and when I'm trying to relax.”
