November Gītā: 4.18
karmaṇyakarma yaḥ paśhyed
akarmaṇi cha karma yaḥ
sa buddhimān manuṣhyeṣhu
sa yuktaḥ kṛitsna-karma-kṛit
‘Those who see inaction in action and action in inaction, they are wise among people; they are yogis and performers of all actions.’
Bhagavad Gītā 4.18
There is much talk of karma, in life and particularly in this verse. A main tenet of Indian philosophy is the roll of karma. The word karma can mean several different things as can its opposite akarma. Karma can mean the whole system of action and reaction, it can mean just an action or an action that has some blessing. Akarma can mean non-action or non reaction. So with all that in mind If you act with devotion there will be no bad reaction, however if you just try to do the impossible by not taking any action there will still be a reaction to this. Even while sitting still we cause more karma. But if our actions are not done through ego then we will not accrue more karma. Of course by doing yoga we burn off karma.
