April Gītā: 2.69
yā niśhā sarva-bhūtānāṁ
tasyāṁ jāgarti sanyamī
yasyāṁ jāgrati bhūtāni
sā niśhā paśhyato muneḥ
’When it is night for the ordinary person, the controlled person is awake.
When ordinary beings are awake the sage sees this as night.’
Bhagavad Gita 2.69
This is part of the ’Sthita-prajna’ part of the Bhagavad Gita, the section describing someone who has steady sacred wisdom. Although yogis are famed for their early morning wake-ups and predawn practice this verse is more about how someone who has spent years controlling their mind sees the world. In complete opposite to the normal person. We live with fear and loss, in a state of negative bias; but for the yogi, internal happiness through connection to God is always there. What would seem hard practice for a normal person is adored by a yogi.
