Anna was authorised to teach Astanga yoga in 2003: in 2009 she became the first teacher in the UK to receive Level 2 Authorisation. She has permission to teach both Primary and full Intermediate Series. Anna is co-author of ‘Yoga Sadhana for Mothers’, the first book on the subject of Astanga Yoga, pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
Anna has been practising yoga since 1993 and began studying Astanga yoga with Hamish in 1998; a year later she visited Mysore for the first time. She now returns regularly to continue her studies there .
Anna also specialises in teaching yoga for Pregnancy and works for the charity Birth Companions supporting vulnerable pregnant women. Over the years she has worked with and advised numerous Astanga students during their pregnancies, helping them to modify and develop their practice safely as they prepare for the birth of their babies.
In common with all the teachers at AYL, Anna is DBS checked, qualified in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, and has completed ‘Trauma Informed’ and ‘Race Awareness’ trainings.
Anna is currently taking a break from teaching.
