Yoga traditionalists bemoan how modern-day practice has lost its authenticity. They cite yoga raves, the birth of the Instagram yoga star, rampant commercialisation and commodification as signs that yoga in the 21st century has moved away from its historical origins in a reframing of traditional Indian practices and beliefs. But yoga’s evolution has been so radical in the past 3,000 years that it makes it difficult – if not impossible – to even say what is authentic when the range of meanings and practices is so broad.
Come and join this fascinating discussion led by a panel of some of London’s top yoga teachers – RYT-500 teacher Anna Ashby, certified Astanga teacher Hamish Hendry, senior intermediate III Iyengar yoga teacher Alaric Newcombe and Anusara’s UK representative teacher Bridget Woods-Kramer.
